Officers from the New Canaan Police Department were dispatched to the area of Oenoke Ridge Road and Lukes Wood Road at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, where there was a report of a suspicious man in a hoodie and gray pants in a homeowner’s driveway.
According to police, upon seeing the man - later identified as Mount Vernon resident Leland Robinson - he honked his horn as he was driving out of his driveway, and Robinson immediately fled, walking toward Lukes Wood Road.
Police said that officers made contact with Robinson near the 900 block of Oenoke Ridge Road. When speaking with him, Robinson attempted to give a false name and date of birth the responding officers. He also failed to provide a reason for why he was in the driveway on Lukes Wood Road, and his explanation was also a lie.
Robinson, 31, was arrested and charged with interfering with an officer during an arrest at New Canaan Police Headquarters. Following his processing, Robinson was released and scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 31 to respond to the charge.
